Watching “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” and I don’t get what all the hype is about. The flashbacks to ancient Korea were confusing and the CG dragons looked like effects from a made for SyFy movie.

What Non Christians Mean: There are multiple holidays, including yours, which are celebrated at this time, and I hope yours is lovely.
What Christians* Hear: , Our holidays are holidays. Christmas, the only one that matters, the only one that is important, should not be mentioned.
How Christians* React: We can't say "Merry Christmas"?! WE ARE BEING OPPRESSED!
How Non Christians React: Um, no. We simply said that multiple holidays, including yours, are celebrated at this time. So anyone who celebrates anything is included.
How Christians React To That: But OUR HOLIDAY is the one that matters to us!
How Non Christians React To That: So you don't care how other people feel?
How Christians' Reactions May Tend To Come Across In Reaction To That: ... well, we care. Just not enough to want to have to acknowledge that other holidays exist besides ours.

How Christians May React To That: MERRY CHRISTMAS! I'm only wishing you goodwill in the way that is familiar to me!
How Non Christians React To That: ... aaaaaaaaaand in the way that says it's more effort than you care to put forth to be inclusive at a time that's supposed to be the time of love and peace among people.
It's not "being an asshole" to say Happy Holidays. It may or may not be "being an asshole" to say Merry Christmas. To INSIST on saying Merry Christmas, though. That takes a little of the uncertainty out.
